Practical Tips To Prevent Diabetes

There are several ways to prevent diabetes. I am not saying that these prevention can zero out your chances of having a diabetes. But doing these tips can definitely be a big help for you.

A simple lifestyle measures is undoubtedly a very effective way to prevent type 2 diabetes and its further complications:

Maintain healthy body weight.
Avoid getting obese. Here's a chart for the recommended weight  in comparison to your height. Please note that your weight should match your height. Obesity can give you a lot of complications, not only diabetes.

Right now, I myself is gaining weight. But I am determined to lose some weights. So I guess, I need to do more work outs and control my diet.

Physically active.
A 30 minutes of regular activity that will help you sweat is a good start. The heavier you are the more activity you need. A morning and afternoon walk is definitely a good start.

Healthy diet.
I strongly suggest that you get our diabetic cookbook if you still want to enjoy the food that you love. But always remember, less sweets, less carbo, but more fiber and vegetables.

Avoid tobacco.
Even if you are not diabetic, cigarette smoking is ALWAYS dangerous to your health. It can cause a lot of lung and throat diseases. Getting sick if you have diabetes can lead to serious complications. So please, avoid that, if not, quit smoking.

Avoid alcohol.
Beer and some other alcoholic beverages are also not recommended. Rule of thumb when it comes to diet, a healthy diet is about natural foods. So I guess if you are in the habit of drinking alcoholic beverages, you need to avoid it, if not, quit.

Diabetes Explained Video

Below is an explanation of what diabetes is. I hope this one will really help us better understand of how serious it is to have a diabetes.

Understanding the Goal of Diabetes Treatment

The very goal of diabetes treatment is to keep the blood sugar level to close to normal as musch as possible. It should not be too high which is sometimes known as hyperglycemia, nor too low which is called hypoglycemia.

Please note that diabetes is the failure of the body to produce blood sugar normally. And so the treatment will always be heading that way, to take control of that blood sugar production.

There are two main things that has to be implied for the patient. First, is healthy diet. Healthy diet is all about the food intake. It is all about what kind of food to eat and what are not. Many people abuse food so much. They eat too salty food, too much sweets, and many others. But for healthy diet, it is more on maintaining not just a balanced diet, but staying away from any form of food consumption abuse.

The second one is exercise. This will keep your body balanced in the production of sugar and other hormones. Lack of exercise can give birth to obessity and other diseases which is because of the lack of immune system. Also make sure that you apply the right kind and the right amount of exercise if you are already experiencing diabetes.

In worse cases of diabetes, injecting insulin is must. And that alone will cost you a fortune. So you will really not want to have a diabetes, or if you already have one, you will really need to take care of it so that it will not go too far.

You can do this by regularly checking your blood sugar. This will allow you to monitor how much food intake you need and if possible, change your diet if really needed.

Loss of Memory Can Be A Sign of Diabetes

Of course, I am not a doctor. But I believe diabetes can cause loss of memory.

Just before my grandmother died, she lost a lot of her memory. She can't even remember the name of her children, not even my dad's.

I also observed the same thing to my auntie. A few months before she died, when diabetes it is in its full blown state, she lost a lot of her memory and cannot even remember me.

Sad to say, but diabetes does destroy families. Not only for the emotions going on because of having a knowledge of it, but also for the fact that victims can't even remember their own families.

Diabetes and How Serious It Is

My grandmother died of diabetes. Her sister died because of diabetes. Some of my their children died because of diabetes. My father has a diabetes. Now tell, me if I don't have a reason to write about diabetes.

From now on, I want to write and have a serious research about diabetes. This is to protect myself and my future children for having them.

I know that there is a kind of diabetes that is hereditary. But still, I believe that the chance of having it can be lessen a lot if we only wills it. The best way to do that is to be aware of its causes and triggers.

So this blog is all about it. I write everything here soon.
